Lo2 P2 Plan a shoot
Explain the purpose of my photoshoot
-I have been comitioned by the council to capture a lot of beautiful areas that are hidden in a town that has garnered a lot of bad press. I will use areas such as the giant painting on the wall near the bus station, this is a great area that shows the progress that Doncaster has undertaken and how it has used something like graffiti to its advantage in making Doncaster a more beautiful area.
Moodboard
I plan to use the styles of Documentary and Urban landscape to show the Beauty of Doncaster.
Plan 10 photos
-A photo of the giant painting on the wall near the bus station/ I will stand at an angle which shows the best view of the wall. I would then take a landscape photo of the picture. I could take it from either inside or outside the French-gate, I will try both so that I could get the best photo.
-The church that is near the town centre/ This is a very old place in Doncaster that holds a lot of history, I could shoot here to capture how Beautiful Doncaster's history is and how I is still here within the town.
-A skyline view of the town centre that captures all the buildings in the distance/ This would allow me to capture how beautiful Doncaster is as a whole and allow me to show the buildings that surround the town. I could do this is black and white and edit the photo to show light effects from the night life and cars.
-A picture that scales a tall building/ a top down or bottom up shot of the building that could capture the scale of the Doncaster and all its sites.
-An evening shot that uses appature techniques to gather interesting shots of the lights/ This can be in Frechgate or on a busy road from a high building. Starburst Effect: Add Eye-Catching Interest to Photos | OPG | Outdoor Photography Guide Link to how to achieve a starburst effect. I may also think about using a fish eye lense
-A shot in Sprotborough falls of he water fall or of the nature within the lake and forest/ This will show some of the nature that Doncaster has to offer, even though its not what I want to shoot it may prove to create some interesting shots of the lake and scenery.
-Pictures of the lake in lakeside or the lakeside village shopping centre near it/ again this will be a nature shot that could show some of the wildlife featured in these areas
-The top of the hill would offer a great shot of the surroundings in Lakeside/ I will be able to capture a lot of the newly built area in Lakside and could capture some of the reflective buildings and maybe take use of some lens flare which could make Doncaster look more bright, sunny, and beautiful.
-A shot of a wall that has moss or other things in it/ this idea was shared during class and could show some beauty in the architecture and urban wildlife
-Shots of a campfire or other places that youth go/
-Shots of the town centre that can be used to show the beauty in the area
Legal and ethical considerations
Legally, I am allowed to shoot outside in public. It isn't illegal to film or capture people in shots as long as they are in a public space. If I are taking photographs from private land, you need to have the land owner's permission. With this though, there are many ethical considerations that I would need to consider before taking pictures of people. I do not want to capture photos like Bruce Gillman as he purposefully gets close to peoples face in order to capture a picture that shows the shock and the chaos of a busy city in New York. This is very unethical as its completely disregarding the personal space of the person in public. Even with this, I will still take pictures that may have people in. I will just make sure to keep in mind how I am taking the photo and how the subject in the photo reacts to their picture being take.
Equipment
I will be using the DLSR camera. The DLSR will let me change the aperture and other camera settings which would allow me to take very interesting shots in the moment. Plus, I will be able to change the camera lenses (Like to a 8 mm fish eye lenses or a 70-30mm telephoto lens) and also use equipment such as tripods to help me get a more steadier shot. The different lenses will allow me to take shots from onto of a building at the surrounding area, and will let me zoom in on particular areas that may seem interesting. The fish eye lenses would allow for a wide shot that incorporates a lot of detail in the picture, while also including a slight distortion effect that would make the picture more pleasing to look at. The telephoto lens will let me take shots from a fare meaning I can capture a specific part of Doncaster from a specific area, preferably high up.
Resources/ Models
In some shots I may use models so that will be a subject in the foreground. I could use the silhouette of a model in a shot underneath or onto of a bridge to offer a very dynamic and interesting shot. For this I would need to have access to release forms. A Model Release Form establishes a contract between the photographer and a model, defines how and where photographs may be used and the basis of any remuneration. It protects both the photographer and the model in the event of any dispute – provided the parties have abided by the terms of the release. I do not plan on using any props or resources in my work and do not feel the need to have them on set. Light room is the adobe software that we will be using to edit our photos. We are using this instead of Photoshop as it will be easier and more accessible for people who have little experience using the apps. When shooting the image, we will be saving the image as a RAW file. This is because the fie will be minimally processed and uncompressed, meaning I will be able to edit and change features of the photo (such as the aperture) more easier. Every camera manufacturer has their own RAW file format, for example Canon RAW files are .CR2 or .CR3, so I will be shooting in this when using a canon camera.
Risk assessment
Risk | Description | Who will be Affected | Probability | Severity | Actions to minimize the risk |
